Depression is the most prevalent mental illness of which women carry the burden of development. Statistics show that in Africa:
- 66 million women are affected by depression – out of 100,000,000 people who suffer from depression
- 25 million of those affected are in urban centers
- 5 million of those working in urban centers in formal employment, entrepreneurs in senior management are most at risk of depression.
The challenges and stresses faced daily have taken a toll on their emotional well-being, which has impacted their mental health, that of their families, the workplace, production, and the communities they live in.
Our services thus aim to help women be prepared mentally and psychologically, so that they can manage the opportunities and challenges that come with urbanization and reap the benefits, without sacrificing their mental wellness.
