In Sub Saharan Africa,1 in 7 young people aged 5 to 16 are affected by
mental health problems, with 2 in 10 affected by post traumatic stress
disorder, anxiety, and depression. That is around four children in every
class. This is why early intervention is crucial, yet few school programmes
on the continent of Africa, focus on sustainable mental health programs
and interventions that can help young people manage their stresses.
