In Africa,depression is the most prevalent mental illness of which women carry the burden of urban development.
Despite the high rates of both depression and anxiety disorders amongst women in Africa, the mental health of women remains neglected. Already depression is the most common illness worldwide with 1.9 million people affected by the disorder. Kenya was ranked fourth in Africa with 1.9 million people who have the condition (WHO Report, 2014) with women emerging as the highest group of those affected, a common picuture in the rest of Africa.
